Biographies
Kevin B. Hill is a consulting geophysicist with a degree in Geology from LSU. He has been in the oil business for over 40 years, and president of Hill Geophysical Consulting for more than 30 years.
Kevin’s hobby is studying geology around the globe. He explores how the subsurface influences everyday life through agricultural systems that produce food and wine.
He has shared the fruit of his research with the Shreveport Geological Society in an annual dinner meeting for thirteen years. The first of these presentations was “How Geology Influences Burgundy Wines.” Kevin has also presented talks on the geology and wine of Oregon, Israel, Paso Robles, Spain, Northern Italy, France, Australia and Texas.
Bret Hammett got a BS Geology from Louisiana Tech and began graduate studies before going to work as a petroleum Geologist for Arkla Exploration in Shreveport. Two years later he went to work for Reynolds Drilling working in the Ark-La-Tex area as Exploration Manager. Apache Corporation in Tulsa was his next stop where he began the company’s first N. LA exploration effort. In 1998 he became an Independent Petroleum Geologist developing prospects in his preferred Ark-La-Tex. Goodrich Petroleum then brought Bret on as Sr. VP – Exploration Manager for their Eagle Ford Shale and Tusc. Marine shale plays. He oversaw drilling, leasing, hearings and participated in investor relations.
In 2015 Bret repurposed his skills as a bon vivant and founded Old World Wines, LLC. His company is a wine import/wholesale business which caters to fine dining and small retail shops who appreciate aged French and Italian wines. Bret's over 35 years of study have given him collecting knowledge and buying expertise that are sought out by restaurants and collectors alike. Bret still dabbles in energy projects while traveling Europe seeking out special wines at great prices to share with his friends, colleagues and restaurants.
